Deuteronomy 8:13  Thou shalt be perfect  with the LORD thy God

God Without His Glasses

This morning I saw a show on the Christian network I haven't seen in a while.  On the show, they give words of knowledge as they pray.  They speak healing into the lives of various diseases and ailments.  Several years ago I always watched. One day the  evangelist said, "Someone who has had  vision problems, who has worn glasses for years, your  eyes are being healed; you will see with perfect vision without your glasses." Well, with blind faith I believed and took off my glasses.  I picked up my Bible and amazingly I could read without the glasses.  Over the next several days I didn't wear them.  I drove without them, read without them, watched TV without them.  I squinched, squinted and fumbled my way around.  My family became very concerned.  I was told if the reason I wasn't wearing my glasses wasn't that I had lost them, I must have lost my mind.  O ye of little faith. When my husband told me he was going to take my keys if I didn't put the glasses back on, I put them back on.  I thought even if the vision was going to be restored to perfection, there wasn't that much to see perfectly while grounded, sitting in one spot.

After I put the glasses back on, I found everything that I thought I could see so clearly without them, wasn't that clear.  There were dust and dirt I had been missing.  There were imperfections in me and in everything around me that  I didn't see without the glasses.  Everything looked perfect without the glasses corrective power.

Today I looked in my mirror without the glasses.  I looked perfect.  I looked at my house that needed cleaning, it looked perfect.   As I looked I thought of God. I have often wondered, are there times God just wants to close His eyes when He looks at this world and all of us.  If it were possible for God to need glasses to see perfectly, I wondered would He take them off to look at us? He loves us so much. maybe every once in a while He would like to see us as perfect without a single flaw. One thing we do know for sure, His eyes are always on us watching and waiting for us look to Him and worship Him in the beauty of His holiness.

Psalms 101:6
Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me

Psalms 29:2    Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

Now I don't know maybe if I hadn't given in these glasses might be in a trash can instead of on my face.  I do believe in healing, I have been healed of many things. I do know if I had never had that experience I would never have had these thoughts of God loving us enough to want to look at us without His glasses on. The thought made me happy and brought a perfect smile to my face today.   So the imperfect experience that came to mind from several years ago served a perfect purpose.  I also have found contentment and have come to realize as long as He is with me, there is always perfect beauty to see in Him,  even if I am grounded sitting in one spot.
